Changing my game

Some changes are good

<<<< some are not!

I feel now that a change in my game is needed, to do this I'm going to ask my readers for a few pointers. I'm wondering what allows all of you to play the best poker possible. What allows you to concentrate fully on the game at hand and have 100% focus when needed. My play is lacking, i can feel i am just another fish playing low stakes and not even excelling at that!!

My play is going downhill apart from when, now and again, i get the occasional outburst of pure genius shown in tournaments mostly.

Can i get some feedback please:

Is there anything you do before you play that helps you to concentrate?? do you listen to music whilst playing? are you talking on msn while playing? multi tabling??

Any poker books you recommend on poker strategy? any help to try and improve my game is gladly accepted, cheers

increase the amounts of tarbs m8. That why u also always get playable hands so u dont end up playing complete junk. keeps u focused.

I recently stepped away from the Turbo SNGs and started to play non turbo SNGs. Gives u much more time to get a better image of the other players.
Also a change of Poker room may help.

As amatay says, Increasing amount of tarbs it good, as u are too busy playing alot of good hands, that u muck meodica/bluffing hands, therefore dont lose as much money, if im playing one tab though, i usually am doing summit else, msn as such, makes u just chill out, and play well, coz ur full concentration is not always the best thing.

And ive also found, change of poker room is also helpful sumtimes, ive done well sometimes just changing for like a week or so.

Dan harringtons books are my fave's also mate, there good =)

Yes mate, at the low limits ABC poker is all you need so there is not serious strat to talk about. Try the multitabling and just play solid hands from good positions. Play what you feel is 'super' tight... that is probably just about right for those limits.

In terms of prep for a session, for me to play my best, i need a work out of some sorts. This for me usually consists of mashing a few hundred balls down the driving range. Whatever you choose to do the point is to relieve tension and anxiety and to come into your session nice and loose.

MSN and tv are bad (for me anyway) as you will get distracted on other subjects. When you play poker you really need to be thinking about poker. Music is good, but again if its your favourate sing along anthems this can distract you. Ambient music works for me as its just something interesting in the background. Headphones also works for me as it helps me shut off and concentrate on what im doing.

Id recommend a book called 'The Poker Mindset', its a big help.

good luck

Get away from turbos! They are random.

Play regular SNGs and play AMAZING tight until you get to 50/100 blinds,

about that time people are going into their shells and THAT is when you get a little more aggressive. Steal from the stacks that are medium sized. Not the whales, not the short stacks.

Get the guys that are "hanging on".
