Success On The MTT's

Recently been playing a few $10 multi table tourneys and not been doing so well. There was one i entered a few days ago, where i basically lost all my chips getting caught in a bluff on the 1st or 2nd hand. After that i didnt go to well but managed to stay in. It took me a while to build back up but i eventually did when around 60-65 players were left. This was about 2am and i was getting tired. I lost nearly all my stack again on a hand i cant recall. Anyway, when there were 50 players left i was too tired and could not be bothered. I asked bluescouse if he wanted to play the rest of the tourney for me, he said ok and i sat and wached for 5 minutes with no progression and went to bed. I left him one of the short stacks and didnt expect him to make anything of it.

I left when my bank roll was around $170. Next morning i woke up, logged on and saw my cashier, it had increased to $394. I was amazed. I spoke to him later, he had managed to win the tournement and grab 1st prize of $225. I was ecstatic. That day I had not played well and straight away lost $50 on the ring games =(.

I transferred another $30 to keep safe and my bank roll was looking pretty healthy. I managed to slightly increase my roll playing some cash but not by much.

Today, I started off by playing 10c/25c cash and made $20 quickly and left it there. I then moved on to play some $11 9 seater SnG's which didnt bring around the desired results. Ranking myself as a better multi table tournement player I played a 45 seater $5 tourney. In this I didnt start well (as usual) i doubled up a few times (got lucky sometimes) and was sitting with an over average stack. I was looking well for the final table and yet again i reached it. Sitting with 2nd largest stack the table was really slow after the first 2 players went out. It was the slowest final table i have sat at. But, I did lose a big pot when my JJ got beat by QK by a queen on the river. After this i was the short stack. I pushed a few times and took the blinds and then doubled up. Shortly after everyone was basically equal in chips and it became a game of 'who is the better player'. Blinds were crazy, most stacks were sitting there around 5-9k while blinds were 1k/2k, no-one had over 15k in chips, my stack was 13k. A few dropped out quite quick as expected and stacks began to rise. It was three handed and soon, it was my BB i had largest stack and i had K10. folded to SB who pushed (was happening a lot) so i called. He turned K9 and that was him out. Now heads up was interesting. I had chip lead which changed very quickly and my stack was weak, he was about 7/1 on my stack. But, I brought it back and built a chip lead again and wiped him out. I took 1st prize of $85 and am now very happy =)

Raising The Stakes

Normal level: 5c/10c

new levels: 25c/50c and 50c/$1

I have decided o raise the stakes I play at. There are two main reasons for this. The first one being I'm bored of playing 5c/10c and getting nowhere. The second one being that I need to raise quite a lot of money for reasons I don't think I should state.

So, anyway, I have put $50 of my account safe just in case I bust the rest of my bankroll. I need to make around £40k+ By January 2008. Extremely high target but its worth a try. I figure I'm good enough to play at 50c/$1 and make a profit. Yet, the swings are the problem, I cannot afford a bad beat and then to go on tilt, it would destroy my bankroll and I would be starting from scratch again.

I was playing 25c/50c and 50c/$1 last night and started off by losing $40. I kept my head and bought in for another $40. Not long after this hand came along:

folded to me in SB, I held Ac10c and raised
flop: {3sAsJc} I bet $4 into $6 and he raised to $12, I called
turn: {3sAsJs}{8c} i check, he checks
river: {3sAsJs}{8c}{8s} I bet £30 to put him all in, he called and turns KdJd
I took the pot over $80 (my biggest pot yet)

After that I didnt do to well on that table (50c/$1) and finished when I was down to $27. On the other table (25c/50c) I had originally bought in for $25 and never lost that. I went up and down for around two hours but at the end of the session I left when I was up to around $80-$90.

played this morning on 25c/50c and played for 45 mins making profit of $28.

Hangover?-no poker

I haven't been playing much poker this week compared to normal. Mostly because I have been hungover most of the days and have had party's to get me hungover on the other days.

Yet, I have entered a few tournaments. two $11 90 sit and go's i entered and didn't do very well. And This morning I played a $6 9 seater turbo SnG. I placed 2nd in that and won $16 or so. Sorry i haven't been playing much but hope to post some good stuff soon :).

Going with some mates to walsall grosvenor tonight, my first time at a casino as I am more of an online player. Hope I do well. My girlfriends coming over later so maybe lady luck will be on my side hehe.

Thanks for reading anyways. See you around

The Story So Far

I have been playing poker online not too long. Starting with a bank roll of $40 i wanted to build it, my target first of all being $1000. Not long after I had just put the $40 in, i had lost it. I had started by not really making any progress or any loss, i then suffered a few bad beats and went on tilt for a while.

Nearly blowing my whole bankroll in one day, the next day i was determined to make some of it back. I had played three sessions that day, each with a profit. This making my bankroll into $74.
This got hit yet again by some bad beats and just some really bad play on my part. This wiped my whole bankroll and i wasn't really feeling to pleased.

Spoke to a friend, 'bluescouse', the night after and he bought me in for a couple of $11 90 man SnG's. First one i entered i did really well, i played some good poker and managed to bag 4th prize of $76.80. $15 or so going back to bluescouse. 2nd SnG didnt really go well and i didn't manage to reach the money.

A confidence boost from there allowed me to play some really good poker and make some really good decisions, e.g:

I raise pre flop with QQ, there are two callers. one from SB and the other on the BB.
flop comes 8-9-2 rainbow
it checks to me and i bet just under pot
SB takes his time and raises me for about $3.90 (pot about $2)
BB folds, i take my time, here i put him on either large pockets (slow playing) or 8-8, 9-9
I fold it, was thinking about moving all in, but i thought i was beat,
the guy showed AA

made a great fold and was happy.

I did actually lose a bit and my bank roll was not too high.

I had entered a $2 300 man mtt. In this, i started off badly but gradually progressed until i reached the money. I then entered the final table with chip lead and was dominant with a large chip stack. I achieved to knock a majority of the people out on the final table and ended up with a 3:1 chip advantage. The final hand i managed to turn a lucky card on the river to give me a straight and i won the tournament. 1st prize was $123 which gave me a bankroll of around $147

after this, i had just been grinding some $6 9 seater turbo SnG's. I Played a few of these and reached the peak of my bank roll at $226. I continued to play a few more but didn't have as much success as before.
