The Big Win

Tired, been playing for 8-9 straight hours...ugh!

just thought to post before i rest. Good night anyway, in fact, excellent. I entered a $3.30 re buy tourney for $25k guarantee. Played extremely aggressive during the re buy period and has two re buy twice before gaining a 14k stack after one add on as well, from here on it just got better and better. I kept increasing through the fish, and played some excellent poker.

entrants: 2505

It was quite a long way into the tournament and i am a big stack, i get JQd on the BB and there are a few limper's. I just check and check the flop of 5-3-J, utg bets, and one caller, then i raise, utg calls and the other folds. turn is a 4 and i bet out and just called from utg. I'm probably behind here but i go for another bet on the river which is a 7 and gives four for the straight, i then get raised but he leaves 6k of his stack behind him with 50-60k in the pot, i think 'can i get him to fold?' and 'is that 6k in case i raise and he has something to play with?' the bet seems weak so i push, and he thinks but eventually folds, and i show and said u had me, he said yes =D. good bluffing! One pot was so cold. threes is early raiser and an all in after, i have QQ on the BB and call, the early raiser re raises and Ive committed enough to call his all in, its QQ vs KK vs 1010 with no help and my stack is very low. It only takes a few hands before i flop the nuts and double through and keep increasing again.

I did something really stupid, i had about a 130k stack and player to my right pushes, and I'm playing around and clicking the mouse lol (don't ask) and accidental call with K8, he turns AK and i lose the pot lol.

its late on in the tournament and i have 89suited and raise, and the chip leader calls, the flop comes 9 high and i bet and get raised, i push and he calls with KK, the board comes runner runner to give me a flush and i double through.

two tables left and i have over 1mil in chips and im up against another big stack who raises, i just call with KK and the flop comes low. He bets out and i raised. as i expected he pushes. I put him on AA or QQ. Sick if he AA and i call, he turns QQ and he gets knocked out, thats unlucky for him hehe

It takes a while but i continue to pay well and reach the final table. Its here where i look good for the 3rd above finish for over $2k, very excited yet very weary! I knock some guy out when my QQ is up against his 44.

I manage to get heads up with a short stack and it very aggressive play from him and i finally raise with K7, i get re raised and push for not much more, its my K7 vs A4 and no help and I'm out in 2nd place for $3.1k

$12 in total spent, winnings of $3.1k, best result by far! i thoroughly enjoyed it and i am very pleased.

Thanks to: Bluescouse, Hellboy, grave digger, amatay for watching and supporting me =D

Live game! Finally

Entrants: Portdeco20, Bluescouse, Moz, Hellboy and Gravedigger.

tourney: £5 +R 1 add on, NL hold em

We eventually got round to having a live game, its been a while, im a bit more confident live than online so its good. I think it was my first or second hand against bluescouse where i get knocked out and rebuy straight away where he makes trips on the river. But the money goes in on the river. I still play aggressive and there were a few passive players, moz and hellboy mostly. I increase my stack nicely. Its me and bluescouse in most pots together being the two most aggressive, i have J6 of clubs or summut like that and flop has two clubs, i call bluescouse's all in thinkin i have to get lucky on him, but no, he has 4-5 clubs for a lower flush draw, and i take a nice pot, but bluescouse had me covered. A few hands later and its my BB and i have 6-3clubs and bluescouse raises from the cut off. I call it and flop is 5-5-7 with two clubs, great flop for me with a straight flush draw, i check and blue bets, i raise and he pushes, i call. and he shows K3 for King high, im on a mega draw. Turn comes Q hearts, river comes 4 clubs to give me my straight flush, good feeling, and bluescouse is first to leave. Unlucky Blue =D

I also catch top pair top kicker with AJ against moz's flush draw and no help for moz. Even though hitting the straight flush against none other than bluescouse felt amazing the highlight of the night was when, gravedigger the short stack was left with 25 in chips after his AQ got beat to A4 when the flop came 4-x-4, the blinds were at 150/300 and antes were 25, so he could only afford the ante, but dispite this, he became lucky so many times, he managed to bring his stack back into the 1000's....amazingly to everone surprise. Moz was second to go out and left me, gravedigger and hellboy. I was raising gravediggers blinds alot, and raised with QQ, he min raised me and i push, he calls with k10, pretty bad call unless he thought i was bluffing, but thats him out dispite the epic come back.

Me and hellboy left, it didnt take long before i hit top pair against his bottom pair open ended draw, it was all in while i was dominating in chips and he doesnt hit and im the winnerr =D.

We did have a turbo NL game aswell, nothing too exciting, but a bit of fun, hellboy won that with Bluescouse coming second.

good game boys!

Relavent, yet..Irrelavent

First lets start with the irrelavence of this part of the post, nothing to do with poker, but in the interest of football. Started pre season matches and had our first today, first time we have all played together as a team and up against stiff competition from one of the best teams in their area.

The pace of the game was soo fast its unreal which is why im glad i didnt start as im not fit at all at the moment, but same great football played. 20 minutes into it and one of our players made a shit pass back to keeper, well tried, and they took it and put it in the back of the net....1-0 to them.

Few minutes later and a great pass from a winger on our team sets up our forward and the defender just gets a foot in, a good tackle which sends the ball flying, over the keeper who's off the line and straight into the back of the net. 1-1.

Just a few minutes later and the ball is launched up the field by our defenders, a winger running on to it, the defender backs off as the keeper comes, the keeper then pulls out and its a sweet volley straight in the net 2-1 to us.

Half time and i come on at right wing, The game had settled a bit by now but i guess we were dominating, a lot of missed chances from us was punished when they scored an open goal. 2-2, not much action second half but a very good game and en excellent result. We went home pleased with our performance...and better yet....i lasted the whole half =D, fitness improving now. good one boys!

Right, onto poker.....well....shit really! Started off well, $80 up in cash in first hour, then a few dollars went.....then more dollars went......then 1/4 bankroll went.......mmmm. Tilted badly nearly all day but i couldnt stop. Very unsettling, and dissapointed, and i didnt even have a reason to be on tilt. There was one key hand i lost a pretty big pot on, it was my 8-8 vs QQ. There was 8 on the flop and i call his bet, he bets on turn and i raise...also A on board but he calls, anyway, the queen on the river and i raise again, he just calls so could have been worse.

The peak of my bankroll was $330, now its, $130! Wow!

Gunna hit the tables now, hopefully go deep in a tournement and to come back and report something positive would be great.

...The Fishing Season...

I want to start a trend, a little bit of fun and should be a laugh. Yes, its fishing season alright! So what I want you to do is, at the end of each month is to post on your blog and mention all the types of fish that you have come across =D

For example: Lately, I have come across many fish, here are just a few as an example:

  • the 'all-in fish'

  • the 'fish that calls you and loses and says he knows what you had'

  • The 'overplaying pocket pairs fish'

  • the 'flush draw fish' or, my personal favourite..

  • the 'drawn dead fish'

These are just a few examples of what i mean, join the trend, should be funny =D

Post a comment please.

Cash....And Its All in...

Benn playin 25c/50c and buying in for $10, played last night and lost my first buy in after hitting a straight against the nut straight.

I bought in again and it wasnt long before i doubled up slow playing JJ from the button. The table was full of fish and within about 20 minutes i had tripled my overall buy ($60), I then lost a few pots and was going to leave with $45, +$25. On my last hand i hit a flush against an opponents 2 pair i think it was and that brought me back to $60, i left it there for the night.

I have been playing the same stakes this morning and after quickly doubling through when an oponnent who pushed with 33 on a 4-5-7-9 board, while i was holding 7-7 it was a nice pot to take down. I just played some good poker (jess=cool) after and increased some more, i came across the same opponent and he raised pre flop. I just call with JJ, and flop is 3-4-7, he bets $5 into a $5 pot. (overbetting throws me off that i think he has overpair, and this guy doesnt like me as i took him out before) and i just call. turn is a 9 and he pushes all in for $21 and i quickly call, the river is an 8 and he turns K7 for a pair of sevens, i play a bit longer then leave.

total buy in - $10
cashed out - $55
profit -$45

The Fish Talks And Doesn't Know What Pot Odds Are.....

Playing cash tables of 10c/25c, i was not playing that well, but i was still in profit. I come across a little fishy called '3factor', i raise the button with K4spades, and he takes his time and min raises me, i call for value and the board come something like 8-9-9 with 2 spades, he pushes for only $2 more in a $5 pot, i know im (jess=cool) beat and that he probably has AA or KK but i call for pot odds and hit the flush on the river, he shows AA and i told him 'i know' lol. We had about a 20 minute discussion on the subject because he is such a bad loser. He kept goin on about 'you knew you were behind but you called anyway, how good are you?' and all the other fishy talk.

Well i put it to him by explaining pot odds but the little fishy brain popped, sorry man, too much to take in a guess. Well for any fish reading this like this AA sore thumb, here are a lesson in pot odds and calculating:

A Lesson In Calculating odds:

I am goin to use the example of my hand with AA.

two rules: x2 and x4

hands: AA vs K4 spades

flop: 8-9-9 two spades

K4 outs: 2s, 3s, 5s, 6s, 7s, 10s, Js, Qs, =8 outs.

where rules come in, to calculate odds of hitting on the turn, you multply your outs my 2 (because of roughly 50 cards in deck) so 8x2=16%

Hitting by the river is mutliplied by 4 becuase of of double the chance of hitting, so..8x4 =32%.

I was 32% to win the pot. Now i couldnt call if my pot odds were not allowing me to, this is how to calculate pot odds:

A Lesson In Pot Odds And How To Calculate Them:

Now im not a genius at this but here are the basics:

pot =$5

he bets $2 so pot is $7 and im 32% to win the pot

He is asking me to put $2 into a $7 pot which will make it $9, so my pot odds are 7/2,

100% divided by 7 = near 14%.......14x2 =28%

this means to call and for it to be correct, i need to be at least 28% to win the pot, which i was so it was the correct call.

So fishy, before you have a go at me for hitting a draw just think what pot odds i was getting, thankyou.

Hope you all learned somethng.

Worst Bad Beat Run I Have Ever Come Across

Entered 5 tourneys on pokerstars looking to make some big money:

The 1st tourney comes up and its the 1st hand and i have AA in the BB, i raise 3 limpers and one re raises me all in, i call, its my AA vs JJ and he hits a flush. and im out the first hand.

2nd tourney a few hands in, i hit a straight on the turn (nuts) and push it against his 2 pair and he gets a flush on the river. out of that tourney.

3rd tourney 1 min after 2nd tourney i get a set on the (jess=cool) turn and push all in to be called by top pair who hits a straight on the river.

4th and 5th tourney, im tilting badly and get a friend to play for a bit while i write this post. In one though I am 5th chip position out of 1480. only good news im afraid =(

Hands:

green=club
red=heart
blue=diamond
yellow=spade (dark backround)

1st tourne (pre flop): AA vs JJ

Board: 6-3-9-Q-7

2nd tourne (all in on turn): J9 vs 4-10

Board: 4-Q-8-10-2

3rd tourne (all in on turn): 99 vs QK

Board: Q-J-2-9-10

All these beats occured in five minutes, so in the other two tourney's i was basically giving my chips away
